Ed-Evidence Mapping Project

Led by Brian Wright, Kylie L. Anglin, Vivian Wong

In the field of education, there is a disconnect between research driven best practices and what actually gets implemented in the classroom. While progress has been made in making research findings more accessible to educational practitioners, there is still work to be done. An issue that is central to this problem is the lack of a generalizable data schema that would allow for a commonly accepted approach to categorizing and searching for education research findings. A team composed of Data Science and Education School faculty, graduate students and researchers working at InnovateEdu are laying the groundwork for the creation of this schema. The teams’ initial effort centers on using Natural Language Processing techniques to better understand the latent variables structures of published articles in order to inform schema development options.
